National Bank NB Closed Championships

Provincial Champions Crowned:

Provincial champions were crowned this past weekend at the National Bank NB Closed Tennis Championships held in Fredericton.  In men’s singles, Noah Cameron-Howe of Fredericton won his first open provincial title beating Dan Godwin of Fredericton in the finals by scores of 2/6, 6/3, 10/8.  Cameron-Howe won 4 straight matches to claim the title including pulling out a tight win in the semifinals over Nick Gresh of Rothesay winning 6/1, 6/7, 13/11 while Godwin also had a close match in his semifinals defeating Pat Lyons of Rothesay 2/6, 6/2, 10/5.  In men’s doubles, Alex Lavoie of Moncton and Mitchell Nel of Fredericton claimed the provincial title with a 6/3, 6/1 over Dan Godwin and Jeff Crossman of Riverview in the finals.  In mixed doubles, Dax Phillips of Fredericton and Rose Arsenault of Fredericton beat Mark Thibault of Fredericton and Monique LeClair of Fredericton in the finals by scores of 6/1, 4/6, 10/2.  Colette Beaulieu and Sally McAllister both of Fredericton won the ladies doubles title beating Arsenault and LeClair by scores of 6/3, 6/3.  In men’s 4.0 singles, Gabriel Lacroix of Fredericton claimed the title by defeating Finn McMorran of Fredericton by scores of 6/4, 6/0.  Minh Nguyen of Fredericton won the singles consolation defeating Mark Dilag of Riverview 8/4.
