NB tennis juniors off to Atlantic Championships.

Thirteen junior tennis players from New Brunswick will be off to Truro this week starting on Thursday competing at the Indoor Junior Atlantic Championships and vying for a top 3 finish which then qualifies them for the various age class Indoor Junior National Championships taking play in March & April.  Only the top 8 players from Atlantic Canada have qualified to compete in the Atlantics based on their player rankings.  Hielke Moore is the top seed in the boy’s Under 18 division and is defending champion, he will be joined in the draw by #3 Mitchell Nel and #5 Noah Cameron-Howe.  Niki Karol is the top seed in both the Under 16 and Under 18 girls divisions.  In the Under 16 boys division, Cameron-Howe is seeded #3 while Kirtan Patel is #6.  Patel is also in the Under 14 boys draw as the #2 player with Cade Nadeau in as #7.  In the Under 12 girls division, Mia Bennett enters ranked #2, while on the boys side, 4 players from Fredericton make up half of the draw with Matthew Bennett at #3, Ben Hamilton at #6, Gabriel Lacroix at #7 and Finn McMorran at #8.  And finally, in the Under 10 draws, Rachel Schmidt will be the #4 seed on the girls side while Callum McMorran will be #7 on the boys side.  Play begins on Thursday and continues throughout the weekend with event finals on Sunday.
