The $5,000 NB Open Tennis Championships took place this past weekend at the Rothesay Tennis Club. Most of the best tennis players in the Maritimes took part this year in the 3 day tournament. Here are all the final results:

In Men’s Singles, Phil Anderson of Halifax claimed his 6th title in the last 8 years defeating first time finalist Hielke Moore (Fredericton 6/4, 6/3) in the finals on Sunday. Anderson advanced to the finals with a win over Mitchell Nel (Fredericton) by scores of 6/0, 6/1 in one semi final while Moore defeated defending champion and #1 seed Evan McNicol of Halifax 7/5, 7/5 in the other semi final. Noah Belliveau (Dieppe) defeated Finn McMorran (Fredericton) 8/3 to win the consolation.

In Ladies Singles, Isabella Baker (Chester, NS) claimed her first ever NB Open title with a 6/4, 6/4 win over Rachael Phelan (Charlottetown) both playing in the tournament for their first time. Baker defeated defending champion Tish Kilburn (St. Andrews) 3/6, 6/3, 10/6 to advance to the final while Phelan defeated Meghna Anand (Truro) 6/3, 6/4 to advance. Tish Kilburn defeated Zarah David (Halifax) 8/4 to win the consolation.

In Men’s Doubles, in a repeat of last year’s final, the team of Jonathan Gaunce (Halifax) & Evan McNicol (Halifax) upset the defending champions Phil Anderson (Halifax) & Luke Saunders (Halifax) by a score of 6/4, 6/4

In Ladies Doubles, Michelle Zarei (Moncton) & Rita Brown (Quispamsis) defeated Zarah David (Halifax) & Isabella Baker (Chester) 5/7, 6/4, 10/5

In Mixed Doubles, Gryffin Minor (Bedford) & Rachael Phelan (Charlottetown) defeated Mitchell Nel (Fredericton) & Tish Kilburn (St. Andrews) 4/6, 6/2, 10/6
