Natalia Lanucha (QC) and Kirsten Sharp (BC) teamed up in the women’s doubles draw and will leave the event as national doubles champions. They defeated Candice Combdon (ON) and Veronique Tessier (QC) in back-to-back 6-1 sets. Lanucha will play defending singles champion Anne-Marie Dolinar tomorrow in the last round-robin match to decide who will be going home with the hardware in the women’s singles division.

The men’s singles semi-finals were quite the show. Top-seeded Thomas Venos (BC) showcased his superb talent, taking down Marko Golic (ON) in straight sets (6-2, 6-1), while No. 3 Barry Henderson (BC) defeated Jean-Paul Mélo (QC) in a three-set battle (4-6, 6-1, 6-1). Venos and Henderson will face off on Sunday in the men’s singles finals but will first partner up in men’s doubles as they take on all-Ontario duo Shawn Courchesne and Golic in the finals.
